Bladesinger
A Bladesinger Wizard blends elven elegance with arcane artistry, casting spells with a melodic rhythm while performing a refined dance of swordplay. They master a combination of song and blade passed down through ancient text, imbuing their magic with a serene and calculated beauty.
Training in Blade and Song
When you become a bladesinger, you gain proficiency with light armour as well as a one-handed melee weapon with the parry property of your choice and the performance skill.
Armoured Casting
You ignore spell failure from armour when you cast wizard spells wearing light armour.
Blade Song
As a bladesinger, you can invoke the ancient elven magic called the blade song as a bonus action, provided that you aren’t wearing medium or heavy armour or using a shield.
The blade song lasts for one minute or until you become incapacitated. The blade song also ends if you don medium or heavy armour, or if you wield a shield. While you use your blade song, you cannot use weapons two-handed or fight with two weapons.
You can dismiss the blade song at any time (no action required).
While your blade song is active, you gain the following benefits:
Attacks against you have disadvantage and when you use the parry weapon property, it provides a bonus to your armour class equal to your Intelligence modifier instead.
Your walking speed increases by 10 feet.
You have advantage on Dexterity (Acrobatics) checks.
Once you have used your blade song, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest, unless you spend a spell slot to use it again. If you activate this ability with a spell slot, it lasts for a number of minutes equal to the level of the spell.
Song of Celerity
Beginning from 6th level, you also gain the following benefits while your blade song is active:
When you take the attack action, you can immediately cast a cantrip as a bonus action. This cantrip must have a casting time of one action.
If you used a spell slot to activate your blade song, the blade song also receives a charge per level of that spell slot. For the duration, you can expend a charge once per turn when you make a melee attack to immediately make an additional attack with the same weapon.
When you take the attack action, you can also expend a charge to give yourself a +2 bonus to armour class until the beginning of your next turn.
Song of the Blade
Starting at 14th level, you blade song improves and retains more of your magical energy.
Once per turn when you hit a creature with a weapon attack with a parry weapon, you can add your Intelligence modifier (minimum of +1) to the weapon’s damage roll.
Whenever you cast a spell while your blade song is active, the blade song also gains a number of charges equal to the level of the spell up to a maximum number of charges equal to your Intelligence modifier. You also gain an additional ways to the spend blade song’s charges:
Once per turn, you can expend a charge to add magic energy to your next attack with a parry weapon. If your next attack this turn hits a creature, it deals an additional 2d10 force damage.
